Dongsung Finetec
announced on September 17 that it unveiled the new product and held a GTT
product approval handover ceremony at 'Gastech 2026', a premier global energy
exhibition and conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 15.
The newly
introduced 'HFO R-PUF' is a cryogenic insulation material for LNG carriers that
replaces conventional HFC-based blowing agents with
low-global-warming-potential (GWP) HFO-based alternatives. According to DNV's
carbon footprint verification, the new product generates 33% lower greenhouse
gas emissions than existing products. Thermal conductivity in certain cryogenic
operating ranges has also been improved by up to 6%.
'HFO R-PUF'
received product approval from GTT, the French LNG cargo containment system
engineering firm, in December 2025, successfully completing its technical
verification. Dongsung Finetec plans to apply the new product to vessels slated
for construction starting in 2027, while expanding adoption discussions across
global LNG carrier projects.
Under its 'ECOTECO' brand philosophy—standing for 'Eco Technology
for the Fine Globe'—Dongsung Finetec continues to advance the development of
low-carbon, high-efficiency technologies. The company plans to steadily expand
its eco-friendly product portfolio, including insulation materials for LNG
carriers.
"This new product represents a major milestone in expanding Dongsung Finetec's low-carbon, high-efficiency technology across global markets," said Ji-Il Park, Head of the Business Unit at Dongsung Finetec. "Guided by our ECOTECO philosophy, we will continue to introduce differentiated products and technologies, creating new growth opportunities in the global eco-friendly marine equipment market."
